It’s a strange thing, hitting ten years.
On one hand, it sneaks up on you. You look up from the work, the back-to-back projects, the tight deadlines, the long hours, and suddenly, a decade has passed.
On the other hand, it’s all there in the details. The countless drafts. The inside jokes. The people who became family. The ones who passed through and left something behind. You feel every year of it. In your bones.
That’s what ‘A Decade of Toast’ was about.
Not just a celebration. Not just an event. But a moment to pause, take a breath, and look around at what we’ve built together
It was everything we hoped for and so much more.
As guests filtered in, old friends hugged. Former teammates met up and got reacquainted. Students, some of whom we hadn’t seen in years, found familiar faces across the room. All while memories played out on a screen in the background.
We put together a quiet slideshow that told the story of Toast, not in big statements, but in small tender moments. The very first logo concepts. Glimpses of our very first baby projects. Videos of team members collaborating and laughing mid-project. Random studio shenanigans. A hilarious clip of Rocky with his feet shaved (don’t ask, just know that it happened).
All of it added to the warmth in the room, that layered kind of warmth that doesn’t come from the décor or the music, but from memory. From meaning.
It set the tone for the evening.
We opened the event with a few words of gratitude, excitement, and honestly a little awe at where we are and how far we’ve come.
Then came the panel conversation, and wow, what a conversation it was. The topic of discussion was Building an Impact-Focused Business in Nigeria
We were honoured to host some of the sharpest and most thoughtful minds in the industry :
The conversation was rich.
The panelists spoke about growing with purpose. About how difficult it can be to stay rooted in values when you’re trying to scale. About finding joy in the process, and being okay with uncertainty. Together, they unpacked what it means to build businesses that last, and matter. Not just financially, but emotionally. Socially. In the lives they touch.
From storytelling and structure to failure, funding, and figuring it out as you go, the conversation was honest, real, and insightful. It was the kind of conversation that lingers in your mind long after the mics are off.
Throughout the panel, guests enjoyed trays of mini Toasties triangles (because of course we had to serve Toast 😉) and little boxes of Ribena, a quiet nod to shared childhood memories and simple comforts.
The Q&A that followed was as engaging as the panel itself. Our audience came curious, with thoughtful questions and reflections. It felt less like a Q&A session and more like a living breathing conversation.
After the panel wrapped up, no one rushed out. The evening gently melted into that magical kind of mingling that only happens when people feel safe, seen, and welcomed. There were photos, more hugs, more Ribena, and lots of “you look so good!” moments.
But maybe our favourite part of the evening came at the end.
A circle formed naturally, former students, team members (past and present), friends of the studio. No schedule. No plan. Just stories and laughter and memories, shared around a literal round table.
There were card games, storytelling, and a lot of “do you remember when…” moments. People lingered, not really in a hurry to leave. It was like no one wanted to go home. And honestly, neither did we.
And then there was the book.
This big, open book where everyone was invited to write their favourite memory of Toast. Some left long, heartfelt paragraphs. Others dropped one-liners or doodles. Every page was a small time capsule, little snapshots of what this place has meant to people over the years.
As you can probably tell by now, we really didn’t want the night to end.
But when it did, we left feeling more sure than ever of who we are and more inspired than ever to keep showing up.
With creativity, kindness, and intention. We left feeling rejuvenated. Ready to build, create, make more impact and dream even bigger for the next 10 years. And then some.
We are so grateful to everyone who came, supported, showed love from afar, or shared a part of our journey over the years: There would be no us without You.
From all of us at Toast Creative Studios,
Thank you. We had the best time. ❤️
